Bringing a Large Organization Together Online

Calista Corporation serves thousands of Shareholders across western Alaska while managing diverse businesses, career opportunities, regional initiatives, land resources, and corporate communications.

The website needed to serve multiple audiences, each with unique goals and information needs. Shareholders needed quick access to forms, distributions, enrollment, and news. Job seekers wanted a clear path to careers, while business partners needed information about Calista's companies.

The challenge wasn't simply redesigning the website. It was organizing complex information into a digital experience that was intuitive, efficient, and built to support the organization's future.

Organizing Information Around People

Alopex designed and developed a custom WordPress website focused on making information easier to find.

Navigation was reorganized around Shareholders, businesses, careers, news, and corporate information instead of internal departments. Content was streamlined to reduce unnecessary clicks and create clear pathways throughout the site.

Storyknife magazine, leadership updates, and corporate news were brought together into a unified publishing experience, giving visitors one place to stay informed while simplifying content management for Calista's communications team.

Reflecting the Region

The new website pairs a clean, contemporary interface with imagery that reflects the Yukon-Kuskokwim Region and the people Calista serves.

Thoughtful typography, striking photography, and a clear visual hierarchy highlight Calista's mission, businesses, strategic goals, and Shareholder resources while reinforcing its connection to the Region.

Exploring the Calista Region

To help visitors better understand the Yukon-Kuskokwim Region, Alopex developed a custom interactive map that allows users to explore Calista villages and corporation lands. The interactive experience makes it easier to visualize the communities, geography, and scale of the Region.

Designed for Long-Term Growth

The new WordPress platform gives Calista the flexibility to grow without rebuilding its website.

Whether publishing Storyknife, sharing leadership messages, expanding Shareholder resources, or promoting new initiatives, staff can easily keep content current. Modern SEO and Answer Engine Optimization best practices also help important information become easier to discover through search.
