Alopex Case Study

Designing a Website as Distinctive as Borealis Basecamp
Borealis Basecamp + Alopex
When an Innovative Website No Longer Fits
Alopex had previously built Borealis Basecamp a headless WordPress website, an advanced approach at the time that paired WordPress content management with a highly customized front end.
As WordPress editing tools improved and Borealis Basecamp changed ownership, the team wanted a simpler editing experience that more closely reflected the live site. Increased investment in digital advertising also made website performance and the path to booking more important.
Rather than continue adapting an aging structure, Alopex rebuilt the site around how Borealis Basecamp operates today.

A Website That Could Only Belong to Borealis Basecamp
Borealis Basecamp is visually unlike most places travelers will stay, and the website needed to reflect that.
Rather than using a prebuilt theme or familiar hotel layout, Alopex designed the site around the property itself. Large-scale photography puts the glass-roofed accommodations, surrounding wilderness, and northern lights front and center. Bold typography and restrained layouts give the imagery room to do most of the work.

Rebuilding WordPress Around the Borealis Team
Alopex replaced the previous headless setup with a streamlined WordPress build that is easier for the Borealis Basecamp team to manage.
Custom content blocks allow staff to update packages, accommodations, itineraries, experiences, FAQs, and seasonal details while keeping the design consistent.
Turning Inspiration Into a Clear Booking Journey
The site was structured to help visitors move from discovery to booking. Package, itinerary, accommodation, experience, and FAQ pages give travelers the information they need to understand their options and plan a stay.
Clear calls to action and Flybook integration connect that research directly to the reservation process.
A beautiful tourism website earns attention. A useful one helps travelers act on it.

Supporting Visibility Without Sacrificing the Experience
The rebuilt site also created a cleaner foundation for search and performance. SEO was considered throughout the structure, with pages organized around the questions paid and organic visitors are asking while planning a trip.

Distinctive Businesses Deserve Distinctive Digital Experiences
The new website provides:
- A custom design built around the character of Borealis Basecamp.
- Better tools for updating travel and seasonal content.
- A clearer path from discovery to reservation.
- A streamlined WordPress build designed for fast performance and easier long-term management.
The result is a website that looks and functions like Borealis Basecamp itself: distinctive, thoughtful, and built for the experience it represents.
